1. Who we are
ProfGear ("the app") is developed by Infinity Computer Systems
("we", "us"). The app helps Algerian university
teacher-researchers (Enseignants-Chercheurs) with career tools including promotion
point calculation, salary simulation, and features that connect professors with one
another (post/permutation swaps, mutual aid, and research collaboration).
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how it is shared, and your choices.
2. What we collect
Account information (when you create an account)
- Email address (for sign-in and account recovery).
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic Google profile
information via Google Sign-In. We do not receive your Google password.
Profile information (that you choose to provide)
- Display name, institution, wilaya (province), academic rank, and — if you choose to
use the connection features — your phone number. Providing profile details beyond what's
needed to sign in is optional, though some features won't work without them.
Content you create
- Posts and listings you publish in the swap, mutual aid, and research features (e.g. your
current and target wilaya, your grade/field, a mutual-aid request title and description, a
research collaboration description). This content is visible to other signed-in users so
the features can work.
Contact-exchange information
- When you and another user mutually agree to exchange contacts through the swap, mutual aid,
or research features, we share the contact details you have chosen to share (email and/or
phone) with that specific user. See Section 4.
Subscription records (if you subscribe to a paid tier)
- If you subscribe, we keep a record of your subscription — your email, the tier and duration,
the amount, a reference, and the relevant dates — to manage your access to paid features and
for our records. Payments are handled outside the app.
We do not collect or store card numbers or bank credentials.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
3. Why we use your data (purposes)
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To provide the app's features (calculations, and the connection features you choose to use).
- To let other users find and respond to the posts you publish.
- To enable contact exchange when you and another user both agree to it.
- To manage subscriptions and entitlements.
- To keep the service safe (e.g. handling reports and abuse, enforcing cooldowns).
We rely on your consent (which you can withdraw) and on the necessity of processing to provide
a service you have asked to use.
4. How contact sharing works (important)
The swap, mutual aid, and research features exist to connect professors, so they involve
sharing contact details — but only with your agreement:
- Your email and phone number are not shown publicly on your posts.
- Contact details are shared only when there is a mutual exchange: another user
requests to exchange contacts and you approve (or vice versa). Only then are the details each of
you agreed to share revealed to the other party.
- You choose whether to share your email, your phone, or both.
- Exchanges expire (by default after 30 days) and are subject to cooldown periods to limit
repeated requests.
- Once contact details have been shared with another user, that user has received them directly —
we cannot retract information already delivered to them. Share contacts only with people you
intend to reach.
If you do not use these connection features, your contact details are not shared with other users.
5. Who your data is shared with
- Other users: the content you post, and the contact details you agree to
exchange, as described above.
- Our hosting provider (Supabase): the app's data is stored and processed using
Supabase, hosted in the European Union (Paris region). Supabase processes data on our behalf as a
service provider.
- Google: if you use Google Sign-In, Google processes your sign-in per Google's
own privacy policy.
- Legal: we may disclose data if required by applicable law.
We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not sell it.
6. Data storage, location, and security
- Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the European Union (Paris region).
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) between the app and the server.
- Access to stored data is restricted by row-level security so that users can generally only access
their own data and the content intended to be visible to them.
- Some content (free reference material) is also stored on your device to allow offline use.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Data retention
- Account and profile data are retained while your account exists.
- Posts and exchange records are retained while active and for a reasonable period afterward for
safety and record-keeping; exchanges expire as described above.
- Payment records are retained as needed for accounting and entitlement history.
- If you delete your account (Section 8), we delete or anonymize your personal data except where
we must retain limited records to comply with law.
8. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access and update your profile information in the app.
- Choose not to provide optional information (e.g. phone number) — though some features then
won't be available.
- Withdraw from contact sharing by not using the connection features.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us
at infcs.dev@gmail.com.
Under Algerian law (Loi 18-07 on personal data protection) and general data-protection principles,
you may have rights to access, correct, and delete your personal data, and to object to certain
processing. Contact us to exercise these.
9. Children
ProfGear is intended for university teacher-researchers and is not directed to children. We do not
knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and,
where appropriate, notifying users in the app.
